Birds
When birds roost in large numbers they can become a serious health risk and cause structural property damage. They typically nest in areas that are close to people and provide shelter from the weather – building ledges, balconies, rafters, roofs and eavestroughs are ideal locations. Birds carry bacteria and spread disease into our food, water, or through airborne particles. Pigeons are associated with three types of human diseases- Histoplasmosis, Cryptococcosis, and Psittacosis.
Care Pest Control will work with you to eliminate your bird problem in accordance with the Ministry of Natural Resources Fish & Wildlife Act, and Environment Canada’s Migratory Bird Act. This may include baiting, trapping, and removal. Once birds are removed from the area, Care Pest Control will safely clean the area to ensure the health risks are eliminated and add preventative measures to your structure to avoid future re-infestation. It is important to maintain a clean, safe environment at your home or business facility in order to protect your family and employees, and to maintain your reputation.
Moles
Moles are found all over the Lower Mainland, at residential homes, commercial complexes, and often golf courses. They feed on earthworms and other insects found in soil. Moles are best known for building vast tunnels and mounds on your property with their short, powerful limbs that are intended specifically for digging. Their tunnelling can cause your lawn and patios to become uneven and may contribute to cement slabs cracking. To protect your property, trapping is the best way to resolve the problem. Moles are solitary animals and in most cases the problem can be resolved with the removal of the one mole.
Wildlife Control – Raccoons, Skunks, Squirrels, and Rodent Exclusion
Wildlife problems need to be managed in 3 steps:
- Exclusion
- Clean-up
- Prevention

Exclusion
Wildlife can be a nuisance around the outside of your property but when they begin to nest in and around your home or business, they become a serious health risk, dangerous to small children and pets, and can cause significant damage to your property. The first step to remedy a wildlife problem is to remove the pest(s) from your property. This is done using humane wildlife removal techniques.
Their droppings and urine are known to transmit a number of diseases, including Histoplasmosis, Cryptococcosis, Salmonellosis and in the case of deer mice, Hantavirus. Illness can occur from breathing in airborne fungal spores or other pathogens associated with their urine and droppings. Wildlife may also introduce fleas and mites into your living spaces. Many people, especially infants and children, are susceptible to allergens from the soiled insulation which can trigger asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
Care Pest Control specializes in raccoon, skunk and squirrel, and rodent exclusion for around your home and business.
Clean-up
Care Pest Control’s environmental clean-up team will provide you with a written quotation for your attic clean-up which includes treating the space with an anti-bacterial virucidal spray. This spray kills all pathogens in the area. A HEPA vacuum is used to remove all the droppings and contaminated insulation – the HEPA vacuum is essential to contain harmful contaminants left by rats or wildlife. New fibreglass bat or blown insulation will be installed. Many properties do not have the recommended R value of insulation which can help decrease heating costs in the winter and keep your home cool in the summer. Investing in a properly insulated, clean attic and crawlspace can save you money, prevent health problems, and becomes a great selling feature for your property.

Prevention
Once pests have been removed, your property can be secured against future pests with the use of galvanized screen and door guards.
