The German Cockroach The "German" cockroach is most prevalent in the Lower Mainland. Cockroaches have three stages in their life cycle: eggs, nymph and adult. Adults are just a 1/2 and inch - 5/8 inch long and light to medium brown on color with two dark distinctive stripes behind the head.
The young cockroaches, or nymphs, are wingless and usually only a few millimeters long. They are white on hatching but darken within just a few hours
How to Find Cockroaches
Cockroaches are found in kitchens, bathroom cupboards, pantry closets and appliances in most residential apartments, town homes and houses. They're also found in some restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, delis, food courts and even non-food establishments!
What Cockroaches Eat
Cockroaches eat a great variety of food, including food that humans consume. They prefer starchy and sugary materials. Cockroaches can be dangerous because they can carry bacteria onto food, which is responsible for food poisoning out breaks. Another health risk is that they can cause allergic reactions or even asthma in some cases.
How to find and get rid of Cockroaches
The easiest way to know you have cockroaches is if you see them. However, you will not see them during the day usually, as they are nocturnal creatures. An odor will be left behind from the cockroach, which will make it easy for you to know you have an infestation.
